That ‘big Mark button’ is clutch; I’d add a press-and-hold audio nudge — hold Shift to scrub back 5s, release to snap live — instead of a visible transport bar. Could you add a tiny latency dot in the corner so I don’t feel like I’m flying blind — airplane mode for my brain?
In a “Focus Mode,” I’d keep a tiny always-on REC pill with a single peak tick and remaining disk time — new folks worry more about “am I recording?” than any toolbar. If it turns yellow/red on clip or dropout and otherwise stays translucent, it keeps things calm without losing the parachute; a quick F8 could pop open the full audio panel only when needed. Would you also surface elapsed job time in that pill, or is that clutter?
I’d add a one-key ‘Freeze last Q/A’ that parks the previous 20–30 seconds in a skinny side panel for read-back while the main feed stays live. Press again to auto-dismiss, like picture-in-picture; any reason that couldn’t also show line numbers only during the freeze?
Quick thought: keep a tiny live latency/connection dot in the corner — “under 30 ms” on a 2019 laptop is great, but the one time my writer’s USB hiccuped I saw it spike and knew to restart capture fast. If it feels noisy, have it auto-hide until a threshold is crossed and make the dot a tap-to-retry device control.
