And switched from a Diamante to a Luminex II last week and I’m getting intermittent splits on initial STKP when flying through Q&A at 260 WPM, Case CATalyst 22 with Audiosync, stroke depth about 7.5 mm and light tension. Before I start remapping briefs, has anyone cured this with lever screw adjustments or a slight tripod tilt/wrist wedge — looking for a hardware fix that keeps realtime clean for counsel?
a slight tripod tilt/wrist wedge — looking for a hardware fix that keeps realtime clean for counsel? On my Luminex II, a tiny 1/16–1/8 clockwise turn on the S-/T- and K-/P- lever screws added just enough preload to stop STKP splits at 260. If you still feel a lag, a barely-there 5° forward tilt helps, but too much and you’ll start dropping soft S-.
Short answer from my side: I’m seeing the same pattern — one concrete thing that helped was writing down the exact handoff and timebox it to 15–20 min. Does that match what you’re running into?
Had the same STKP splits after moving from a Diamante — — and the only thing that stuck was turning on “Stack Guard” to Medium in the Luminex II settings and shortening stroke depth from about 7.5 mm to about 7.0. @b_jensen22’s tiny lever tweak helped a hair, but the depth + Stack Guard combo cleaned up my realtime at 260 Q&A without remapping.
Switched from a Diamante too, and the fix wasn’t mapping — hardware did it: raised the back of the board about 4–5 mm with rubber pads, bumped the left bank tension one notch heavier, and shortened stroke to about 6.8 mm. That killed the initial “STKP” breaks at 260 Q&A because my wrists weren’t collapsing on impact. If you try @v_davis34’s lever tweak, do it after the tilt; the angle alone solved most of it for me.
I beat this by running the writer’s “Keyboard Calibration” after a 5–10 minute warmup with my fingers lightly resting on STKP; if the room’s cold or I’ve moved gear, I re-cal before starting and it stays clean.
At “7.5 mm”, I loosened S/T lever screws 1/8 turn; thin wrist wedge helped. Recheck after warmup.
What fixed it for me was rotating the tripod head a few degrees so the left bank points straight up my forearm, then giving S and K the tiniest bump in pre-travel (like a 1/16 turn) instead of cranking tension — suddenly STKP stopped “ice skating.” After any screw touch, I do what @a_green48 said and recal once the board’s warm; go tiny, because too much pre-travel can swap splits for shadows.
Raising the palm pads one click fixed that exact STKP split for me on the Luminex II; I also slid the writer about 1/2 inch closer so my knuckles weren’t diving, then recal’d after it warmed up — @Stenograph sells a thicker pad set that helped at deeper strokes.
